Recent Parsons Grad, Amanda Olmstead drew inspiration for her accessories collection from the works of probably America's two most influential artists - painter Georgia O'Keeffe and photographer Ansel Adams. Despite their different mediums and O'Keeffe being a colorist and Adams having worked in black and white, both are venerated today for having been able to capture the mysterious power, beauty and essence of the natural world.
This collection pays homage, in various ways, to each artist individually. What is truly special, however, is that by playing with different textures and shapes, Amanda creates a certain depth in her pieces that plays to an element that can be found in both the works of O'Keeffe and Adams. A nod perhaps to the personal relationship that existed between the two artists?
